NATALIE RANEY CELLO STUDIO POLICY
*
Once read, check next to each bulleted section.
ABSENCES: Please notify me at least 24 hours before an absence. If there is not 24 hours notice before any absence the lesson will be charged. Since the time slot is reserved for each student, this policy also applies to cancellations for illness.
TUITION
*
Monthly tuition reserves your weekly time slot in my teaching schedule throughout the year. Tuition for private lessons is payable monthly due the first lesson of the month.
ABSENCE FEE
*
Your tuition reserves your weekly time slot in my teaching schedule throughout the year. Because this time is reserved for you and consistency is important for learning cello:
1/2 of the regular lesson fee will be charged to the tuition for the month if a student has 2 or more absences within that month. This fee applies to the months of September-November & January-May (and exludes June-August & December).
CANCELLATIONS & MAKEUPS:
*
Your lesson time is reserved exclusively for you. Time for make-up lessons is not guaranteed as my schedule is often full.
*
Cancellations with less than 24-hours notice will not be offered a make-up lesson.
IF OFFERED A MAKEUP LESSON:
*
If there is an occasion where a make-up lessons is offered, it will not be rescheduled or refunded for any reason (there are no make-ups for make-up lessons). If a makeup lesson is offered, and a student then cancels, the make-up will still be charged even regardless of canceling 24-hours in advance.
CONSISTENCY
*
Consistency is very important when learning the cello. If there are excessive absences I will no longer be able to guarantee that the lesson time will be saved.
TARDINESS
*
If a student arrives late, I will complete the lesson in the remaining portion of the time slot that is left. Additional time for student tardiness is not guaranteed.
EXTENDED ABSENCE/DISCONTINUATION OF LESSONS
*
If the student will be absent for an extended period of two months or more or if the student will be discontinuing lessons, 1 month advance written notice is needed. If 1 month notice is not given, the student will be charged the value of 2 lessons.
PRACTICE
*
Students will learn what constitutes good practice for their lessons. For younger students, it is the responsibility of the parent to encourage and guide these skills and habits at home. Teenagers and adult students will have to evaluate their own practice habits and adjust their schedules to accommodate the need for consistent practice. There will be constant discussion about practice, and consistent evaluation of how it is proceeding at home.
TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY
*
The cello is very sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity. If these environmental conditions are not monitored, the instrument can become difficult to keep in tune or even crack. Please avoid leaving a cello in a car, especially on warm or cold days.
MATERIALS
*
Please bring all materials to each lesson. These include all etude & music books, notebook (if desired), rosin, bow, and cello.
TEACHER CANCELATION
*
If the teacher cancels a lesson, a credit or refund will be given. In some cases of a teacher cancelation, a makeup will be offered at the discretion of the teacher.
*
NOTE: Please keep fingernails short. Without short fingernails it is difficult to properly work on technique on the cello.
*
The teacher reserves the right to discontinue lessons for any reason, especially including: persistent absences or excessive tardiness, consistent lack of practice or interest, uncooperative attitude, or failure to pay lesson tuition on time.
